Happy Wednesday! We know a lot of us don’t want to even start thinking about Sunday, but after coming off the first week back to work after the holidays, it can feel a little tough to get back on track. Here are some of the ways we like to start the week off to make sure we have a smooth week with the least amount of morning groans.
Completing a meal prep is like checking off the first task of your week. It also makes the weekdays so much more bearable. Gone are the days of frantically making a PB&J sandwich in the mornings or going out for costly lunches every day.
Once you get into the swing of things, meal prepping can also be very therapeutic. Because you’ll most likely be making the same or similar meals for every day of the week, it becomes a routine. Cut, bake, saute, sauce, plate.
Plan Out Your Week
Going along similar lines to the meal prep, planning out your meetings, workouts, and to do list is a great way to get ahead of the week and make sure you don’t fall behind. This can be as simple as writing out all of your tasks, to going full on stickers, highlighters, and 4 color pens.
Clean the House
This is one of our favorite things to do on a Sunday. By removing all feeling of clutter in your space, it also removes the feeling of clutter in your mind so you can focus on getting the upcoming tasks complete without feeling a sense of overwhelm. Since you’re not worrying about how messy the house is and the dirty dishes piling up, you create more space in your mind to focus on important, productive tasks during the week.
Take Some Me Time
Sundays are our favorite days to take some self care time. Taking some me time will help to get your mind in the right space and ready to tackle the upcoming week. We obviously love a good face mask, or and extra long luxurious skincare routine, but me time really means doing what you enjoy doing by yourself and what re-energizes you rather that drains you. Maybe it’s painting, or maybe it’s reading the paper. You do you.
Wind Down Without Technology
Studies have shown that being on a phone, computer, tablet, or anything that emits blue light stimulates your brain and interferes with melatonin levels. It also keeps our brain psychologically engaged. Since these devices were made to connect and entertain us, the brain is constantly stimulated during usage. Instead, choose to read a book, meditate, or spend some quality time with your partner.
Oh! And don’t forget to turn off your notifications while you sleep - that buzzing in the middle of the night can cause all types of disruption to your sleep.
Go to Bed Early
Take this opportunity of coming off of 2 days of rest to get your sleep back on track. Sleep plays a vital role in our overall health, energy, and mind. While you’re sleeping, your body is repairing itself and getting ready for the next day. Getting a good night's sleep helps to start the week off on the right foot with optimal energy and the right mindset.
